EANx Diver

Nitrox Diver (EANx)

During this course, you will learn how to choose the proper blend of Nitrox for your dive profile, determine maximum depth limits for your Nitrox mixture, analyze your breathing mixture, and plan and safely execute each dive. Your instructor will teach you about the physiology of oxygen and nitrogen; advantages, disadvantages, and risks of nitrox; oxygen toxicity; hazards and precautions of handling oxygen; the concept of Equivalent Air Depth; use of EANx with standard Air Dive Tables; common gas mixing procedures; and more.

Step 1: Paperwork

Every diver must fill out a NAUI liability waiver prior to a certification class or a dive trip. Please read and sign this form and bring it with you to class. A NAUI/DAN medical release form is required prior to any class/ dive trip or any time you’re medical information has changed.

Step 2: E-Learning

NAUI E-Learning is an online self-paced learning environment for students complete this course as they see fit. eLearning must be completed prior to classroom instruction and takes about 3-4 hours.

Step 3: Discussion and Tank Analysis

While eLearning is becoming a new norm in today’s society, there is still no substitute for gaining face to face time with students and re-affirming knowledge while conveying experience. Students will be expected to discuss Bottom Time Calculations, Maximum operating depths, Best blends, and other information pertaining to the class. Students will also be required to analyze a tank and must demonstrate proficiency. This is roughly a 1 hour session.

Step 4: Checkout

A checkout trip is required for full certification of Nitrox. Students must plan and make a two tank dive using a Nitrox.

Step 5: Instructor Evaluations

We ask that you fill out our anonymous instructor evaluation form so that we can learn if there was anything we can improve upon for future classes.
